Since the theme was a surprise, I decided to take the word literally and create projects ( I made a secret box and a napkin fold card)that have an element of suprise in them. Please bear with me this post has tons of pictures.
First I created a Secret Box. The tutorial can be found here on Splitcoaststampers.
I used Fred She Said Precolored Butterflies, Doodledallion sheets. These are awesome, they were the exact size I needed for this box, loved that. I made a total of five layers on each side. I added more colors with Pickled Paspberry and Peacock Feathers distress inks on the top, the sides have seedless preserves and Peacock Feather distress inks.I love the pop that comes from the blue butterflies. All layers are popped with Jody Boosters. There are small gems added and stickles are added both to the butterflies and the centers of the flowers. Lilac Twine was a extra boost to keep the box closed.
Here is a top view
here is a side view
here is a view with the drawers inside- the Surprise element
here the drawers are filled in
and closed again
Now to my second project which is a napkin fold card. You can find the tutorial here on splitcoaststampers
I used two Fred She Said elements here. I used most of the Pink Blossom Set and Emma- I love you this much. The pattern papers on the card and the corner flowers(love them) are from the Pink Blossom Kit. There is also a pattern paper from My Mind’s Eye- Lavender and the strip across is from Carta Bella. Everthing is distressed with dried marigold distress ink. There is a EK success punch used for the edges and since I did not have the matching corner, I adjusted the corners while punching. Emma is colored with copics mainly Y11, YR 23, RV13, E00, E11, R20, E37,35,33. She is also available precolored. Pearls were colored with RV13. Ribbon is from my stash.
Here is a close up of Emma. She was cut using a spellbinders scallop circle and attached to the band with pop ups. A second circle was added to the back for a clean look.
Here is how it looks opened when you remove the band
Here it is partially opened. Sentiment is MFT- Big greetings.
Here it is fully opened, Aren’t these papers fabulous
Here is a close up of Emma inside- she is 2 inches inside and 3 inches on the band on the outside( the beauty of a Digi), she was fussy cut and stuck with glossy accents inside.
Thank you for staying till the end.
