This is my fourth card in the contest  using the June contest sketch  from MFT stamps. I made it for the contest. I have truly enjoyed this sketch. I made only one change and that is that I put the tab on the side as it did not fit in the sketch on the top. I did flip the sketch.

I made a Recessed Window card. At first i thought it would be hard but i was surprised how easy it is to do. The tutorial can be found at splitcoaststampers here

I started at first with the exact tutorial but found that it was small for my purpose, so this is a resized version, this is a 8×6 card. the inside is 5×7. I started with a pattern paper, be careful, it can tear easily. of course by the time i did the inside and outside it has tons of reinforcement to hold good.

When i first saw this background at Little Darlings i knew it is a perfect fit for my PI’s. I had to get it, and i am glad i did. I stamped the PI-Jump for joy. I then masked her and added the background, added some more clouds. then leaving her mask in, i masked the sky and added Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint distress ink for the grass. I removed that added the grass mask and colored the sky using tumbled glass and broken china. Left her mask on and spritz it with pearlized water. Let it dry. remove her mask.

i used copics to add color to the grass YG95,97,99. I doodled all the flowers, i wanted to have just a bed of wild flowers and scattered flowers across the grass. I colored them with copics, R29, B66, Y08, V12, B28. I colored her with E00, E02,E11,R20. I paper pieced her with paper from the new Indie Chic-Saffron(it is an awesome paper pad). I added R29 for some highlights. I stamped the clouds and cut them out, coloring them with C3 and 5 and outlined with C7.  I wanted to use twine for the rope but decided to use sew floss as it gives a better rope feel. I added a yellow Y02 around her versus a B00 as i wanted her to look like she is in direct sun. I added rhinestones on her feet and the rope in place of knots. I popped her with Jody Boosters.

The papers used are Bazill Carstock, Indie Chic-Saffron, Basic Grey-Sweet threads and Lauderdale. Some pearls are from my stash and some are Mellisa Frances, all colored with R22. The ribbon is from my stash(love how it went well with the colors). The gingham i think gives it nice ground. I always like that look.

I added the bracket tab dienamic for the sentiment and brushed it with Vintage Photo Distress ink. The flower trio dienamic was cut with papers form Indie Chic-Saffron and Basic Grey-Lauderdale with red brads for the centers.

When you make a recessed Window card be prepared to do a lot of the inside. Here is the back (you can see the recessed portion which is now raised in the back) and  inside.

I used the same papers and added the layered label dienamics for my sentiment. I popped the layers with some Jody boosters. The sentiment is from the same stamp set VIP collection. It also has mini brads from the same color family as the large brad. Sentiment was brushed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I am also entering it in

Hello Everyone

This is a long post, please bear with me. I want to share all the details.

I made this for the MFT-May Guest Designer Contest. I am so glad that the contest was announced early and I had the time to make this card and accessories. The contest was “Be a Teacher’s Pet.” I started thinking on what would make you a teacher’s Pet. My daughter is in Kindergarten and my son is in the 4th grade, so I started thinking on all the qualities that a teacher has and does want in a child that would make them an “ideal” teacher’s pet

This is what I assume makes you an “Ideal” teacher’s pet. I believe a Teacher Loves

A listener

A forward thinker(one who has a goal/ thinks ahead)

A healthy Eater ( Nisreen’s teacher emphasizes that a lot)

An Enthusiastic Learner

A Friendly Hand

A homework Doer( sorry, I did not have a better phrase to think of a child who does H.W and enjoys it)

and lastly a Happy Child.

At first I thought of making a frame to depict this, then I thought of an exploding box. When I saw the accordian card in resources on Splitcoaststampers.com,I knew that is what I wanted to make. I have also always wanted to make a stamped note cube and this was perfect for it. I have also made two journals with the two sketches I have missed last two weeks.

Here is the entire package

I would like to show the accordian card first

All the ribbon is from my stash, the size is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2. All of the edges were done with Antique Linen distress inks. Circles and squares are cut with Quick Kutz dies

All sentiments were computer generated on the fishtail dienamics. Each page has a different photo corner.

All PI’s had their background colored with copics N’s or W’s or B000.

This is the front

This was made with A la mode- I need some face time. She is entirely 3 D paper pieced. I colored her with copics. You see the velvet paper behind her that is from Lush co. I colored the Melissa Frances pearls with matching copics, added stickles and let them dry overnight. The A+ is from PI-You make the grade. and  glossy accents was added to it to give a glass look. a tiny bling was added for the power button.Do you see the awesome fishtail dienamics?I am so in love with them and making a sentiment or a card is so easy with them,I am so glad I bought them. The sentiment was computer generated. I also added Milled Lavender distress ink to the edges. I added prima donna flower and the leaf is another dienamic. there are two Laura Ashley buttons on the top and a sheer ribbon ties it all together. If you make accordion card, I learnt only to secure the ribbon on the top not the bottom last page.

here is her closeup

here is the card when open

I will now show each page, this was a lot of thought and lot of fun to do.

1. Teacher Loves A Listener

I used PI-You make the grade. I stamped her and her sentiment and then cut her with the Out of Box technique, this is the first time I did that, so it was new to me. I colored her skin with copics, hair with prima pencils and paper pieced her. her heart has glossy accents and there are tiny rhinestones on her shoes. I colored the pearls with copics. these were from my stash(my sister send them to me) I added a button die with some MFT blossom twine.I added two ribbons behind the circles. Papers are from Basic Grey-Lauderdale 6x6pad.

2. Teacher Loves A Forward Thinker

This is PI-Plane Amazing and the sentiment in the image is from the VIP set of the same. She is  colored with copics. Her hair is done with prima pencils. Her glasses have glossy accent.  I added some clouds and plane with felt from You Move Me dies. There is a dizzy doily die behind her. Paper is again Basic Grey-Lauderdale.

3. Teacher Loves A Healthy Eater

PI-Apple for you, this is a digital image from Heather Ellis. I colored her with copics and paper pieced her. Her hair is colored with prisma pencils. Even her apple is paper pieced. I added stickles to the apple to make it stand out. I added liquid pearls, you see the cute flowers, they are from the Notched Tag dies. The button is another Laura Ashley one. The bow also has a drop of pearls. Added ribbon behind and also see the new pinking edge on the panel love it. I added rhinestones to her boots and bling to her flowers. Paper is from my scraps and Echo park-Yours Truly.

4. Teacher Loves an Enthusiastic Learner

PI-Book In Hand. I colored her with copics, added a ground to her, paper pieced her, hair is colored with prisma pencils.i added mini brads for accents, there are rhinestones on her shoes and a big matching brad in the center of the flower made from the centers in the Perennial flower die. Another square brad. I added zig zag dienamics behind her panel and the notebook edge on the edge of the panel. A little flower bling in her hair. Zva pearl swirl finished this piece. Paper is from my scraps and My Mind’s Eye-Stella Rose.

5. Teacher Loves A friendly Hand

PI-Paper Dolls. I cut her with the out of box technique. She is colored with copics. I used twinkling H2O for the dolls, and then used a white gel pen to add dots to make the difference between her dress and the dolls. Added rhinestones to her boots, also colored with H2O. I added the crown dienamic, this beautiful lace, the notched tag die with the butterfly die. The notched tag was stamped with Finishing Flourishes in Milled Lavender distress ink, I love the color. The flowers are from Petal Trio Flower dienamics and the centers were colored with H2O. Paper is from Basic Grey-Sweet Thread.

A Tip: I do not like to cut my sentiments as I think the designer worked hard on it, the inside sentiment was created from two different PI’s the word Let’s is from PI-Dress Up Diva and hold hand is from the Paper Doll PI and the last word s is also from Dress Up Diva. To make sure my sentiment is where I want it to be and to make sure I don’t mess it up. I add scotch tape to the words I don’t want inked, then ink my image, remove the scotch tape and Voila perfect each time. I saw this on Stamp TV. love to use it. Also I love that all PI’s have same or similar font and I can mix and match and make my own saying.

6. Teacher Loves A Homework Doer

I do not know the name of this PI. I bought the digital version from Heather Ellis. I do love my clear stamps more. They are more easy to paper piece and I waste less paper. I colored her with copics, this is the first time I attempted black hair, I was nervous doing it. I paper pieced her.I love what I did with the button, I have wanted to do it for some time and saw that it would be perfect for this one. I added medium scallop dienamics on the back. do you see the scallop rose, my favorite flower, but I say that for almost all flowers, love the flower dies. Added a leaf flourish with glitter felt. A small ribbon on the top. Ribbon edges were cut with Imaginesce as this ribbon tends to fray. I added glossy accents as little drops. Paper is from My Mind’s Eye-Yours Truly and Basic Grey-Lauderdale.

7. Teacher Loves a Happy Child

PI-Jump for Joy. I colored her with copics, I paper pieced her and added glitter to her skirt. I added grass to her feet, added copics there too. Added some Rhine stones to her feet. MFT twine for her rope. She was also cut with Out OF Box technique. There is double scallop edge and the &  was written with the alpha dies and you can’t see it clearly but the felt is embossed and is all raised in parts. added the Posie die  and their centers in different felt colors. I did some mix and match banners and the fancy flourish. Her sentiment is also from two sets, the PI-Jump for Joy and the word “ing” from Pi- Plane Amazing.

Here is the last page. I will add a personal greeting: Thank you for making my daughter this and much more.

This is simple, I just added the Fishtail banner, added some faux stitiching You Move me die that I added Finishing Flourishes to with Milled Lavender distress ink and a Zva pearl swirl.

and lastly the back

Now here are pictures of the note cube

Since a PI would not fit this is a 3×3 inch note cube and the small one is I think 1×1.

I added a finishing Flourish and a butterfly stamp from Tag IT set. I colored the butterfly with distress markers and blended them, I tried to get pearls powder but it looked pasty and I did not like that so did not do it.

Here is the first journal, I used MFTWSC 67 for the layout

PI-Cause for Celebration. I colored her with copics, paper pieced her and added copics to her bow. I added the crown dienamic, the perennial flower and topped it with rolled daisy cut from a tie dye felt., part of the leafy flourish cut with glitter felt. a pearl colored again with copics. My awesome fishtail banner holds the sentiment which was embossed with embossing powder. Paper is from Lily Bee Design-Happily lost and DCWV-Citrus Matstack.

Here is the second Journal. I used the MFTWSC68 layout, I used a little liberty with it, and made one square standing and one sleeping.

Both Journals are 4×6. I used the Big Greeting that I embossed with clear embossing powder. It was stamped with black Momento ink. The sides were stamped with Finishing Flourishes with Blue Bahama Momento Ink. I cut the cork with the fishtail banner, and added a medium rose to it, I added bling, do you see the awesome leaves on it those are the christmas bulb die. don’t they look great. They were adhered behind the cork. Added another Zva pearl. Paper is from Miss Carolina- Dolled Up. Also you can see the negative of the notebook edge on one of the squares.

If you have stayed with me till the end. Thank you so much. You can now see why I love MFT so much.

Thank you for your comment and I appreciate each one.
